What is COCD? (Eng)

”Idea Killers” or “Killer “Ideas, it’s up to you really!”

In the past 12 months, COCD – the Dutch abbreviation for Center for the Development of Creative Thinking – hosted 114 in company training sessions and 88 brainstorms for over 3.000 participants in cooperation with 134 organizations in 8 countries.

Founded amidst two crushing oil crisis, COCD feels right at home in the current economic and social turmoil. Quite simply, because generating ideas and putting them into actionable solutions has been the hallmark of COCD ever since our start in 1977, regardless the conditions surrounding us. Else said, COCD puts the Applied in Applied Creative Thinking.

We have been able to do so, building on the following four pillars:

COCD Foundation:
With over 200 members and professionals that share a common passion for the creative process, COCD Foundation is the backbone of the organization.
It is their combined curiosity and aptitudes that provide COCD with the unique creative primordial ooze, from which new insights and practical tools are allowed to emerge.

COCD Knowledge Center:
From COCD’s offices you can still see our place of birth: the University of Antwerp. And it is with great care and sense of pride that COCD still cherishes and develops the vast physical and digital library its founders, Professor Roger De Bruyn and Professor Pros Van Orsmael, initiated.

COCD Consultancy:
From the crosspollination of knowledge and years of experience comes COCD’s partner team: 9 independent consultants with internationally sought after proficiency in training the creative process as well as facilitating it. (in Dutch, English, French and German)

COCD Training:
More than 10.000 trainees to date, can look back and build on the inspiring and well-founded 3 day open base course in Applied Creative Thinking. And that is just the Dutch speaking market.
COCD also offers custom training, advanced classes in creative thinking, train the facilitator, several master classes and numerous specials the world over.

Even though you will find that the bulk of this website is in Dutch, please note that we can offer consultancy, training and facilitation services in English, French and German as well.
We will be translating more content over the coming months. In the meantime, feel free to contact us or, why not, learn to read Dutch. ;-)
